Namutoni Camp
Namutoni Camp, located on the eastern edge of Etosha National Park in Namibia, is a historic campsite with a unique setting and rich heritage. It offers accommodation options in comfortable double rooms, bush chalets, and camping facilities.
The centerpiece of Namutoni Camp is an old German fort, which is no longer accessible to the public but provides a fascinating backdrop to the camp. The fort, originally built out of wood before the 19th century, was reconstructed after being burned down during a battle between the Owambo warriors and the German colonial authorities. The current structure showcases the architectural style of the time.
Accommodation at Namutoni Camp includes comfortable double rooms and bush chalets. The double rooms offer a cozy and convenient stay, while the bush chalets provide a more rustic and immersive experience in the wilderness. Campers can also enjoy the camping facilities available at Namutoni, allowing them to set up their tents and enjoy the outdoor atmosphere.
One of the highlights of Namutoni Camp is the sunset view from the top of the watchtower. Visitors can climb up the watchtower and witness the breathtaking sunset over Fischer’s Pan, a large saline depression located in the distance. This panoramic view provides a stunning backdrop for capturing memorable photographs and enjoying the natural beauty of the surroundings.
In addition to its historical and natural attractions, Namutoni Camp offers various amenities and services to enhance the guests’ stay. These include a restaurant, where visitors can enjoy meals and refreshments, as well as other facilities within the campsite for relaxation and leisure.
Please note that specific amenities, availability, and access to certain areas may vary, so it is recommended to check with the camp or make reservations in advance to ensure an enjoyable and smooth experience at Namutoni Camp.
